A show loosely based on Sridevi-starrer hit ‘English Vinglish‘, which will air on Zee TV, is in the making. Actress Binny Sharma, who was earlier seen in ‘Sanjog Se Bani Sangini‘ opposite Iqbal Khan and ‘Tujh Sang Preet Lagai Sajna‘, has been finalised as its protagonist.
As reported by a leading website, The makers had auditioned several actresses for the role and their hunt finally ended with Binny. The story is about a woman, who gets married at an early age and has two children. Her self-confidence suffers as she immerses herself in tending to her husband and children’s needs. She is often taunted for her lack of expertise in English language and low self-esteem and confidence. Binny remained unavailable for comment.
In 2009, the dancer, entered into the television industry for the first time as a contestant for the biggest reality show on dancing called Dance India Dance (DID) on the number one Indian television show, ZEE TV. Giving six auditions she managed to rank top 18 but that rise for short lived as Sharma was eliminated shortly after that.
“That small blow to my dreams and passion for dance filled me with thousands of emotions as I cried to my dad on the phone,” said Sharma about her loss, “but then I was stubborn as usual and aggressive about my rejection, I promised myself that I will definitely get selected in DID next year no matter what happens.”
Sharma also said that her mother, who believes in astrology, was told by her astrologer that her daughter, Binny would never go to Mumbai. However, the Master in Commerce did just that.
Her unwavering ambition backed by her parents’ constant encouragement, led Sharma to re-enter the DID auditions during the Mumbai-based show’s second season in 2010. She secured her entry into the competition standing among the top eight contestants for the show. As the competition progressed, Sharma earned fourth place.
