Double Devgn

Ajay Devgn

After more than a decade, Ajay Devgn is rumoured to be doing a double role for the second time, in his upcoming film, Action Jackson. Directed by Prabhudeva, the film will also star Sonakshi Sinha and Yami Gautam. The former actress is considered a recurrent star in Prabhudeva’s films; namely Rowdy Rathore and R….Rajkumar. This will be her third film with Devgn, following Son of Sardaar and Himmatwala. The music has been composed by Himesh Reshammiya that will render life to the unusual and catchy dance moves which Devgn is rumoured to perform in the film.

Like some of his counterparts (Salman Khan in Judwaa, 1997 and Kajol in Dushman, 1998) Devgn was first seen in a dual role, in the movie Deewane (2000) about 13 years ago. It is interesting to note that Ajay and Kajol were married in 1999, the year between their respective dual role films.

Deewane was a typical Bollywood romantic drama film, wherein Devgn portrayed opposing roles. He played the good natured family man, as well as the villain in the film. Directed by Harry Baweja, father of budding actor Harman Baweja, Deewane was one of his many films (like Diljale and Dilwale) that starred Ajay Devgn. Though the movie was not very successful, actors like Urmila Matondkar, Mahima Chaudhury, Johnny Lever and Paresh Rawal were much-admired for their role portrayal.

Devgn has plenty of films to his credit that brag of his successful career in the film industry. His first film was a blockbuster hit, that was titled Phool Aur Kante (1991), for which he also went on to win the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. From then on, there was no looking back. He starred in the popular film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam that was widely acclaimed. Some of his more recent and well known films include The Legend of Bhagat Singh, Omkara, Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai, the Golmaal film series triptych, Son of Sardar, Singham and Bol bachchan, to name a few.
