Actress Jeevitha sentenced in cheque bounce case gets bail

jeevithaA city court Monday sentenced Telugu actress-filmmaker and BJP leader Jeevitha to two year imprisonments in a cheque bounce case.

She was also fined Rs.25 lakh.

The court later granted bail to the actress after she paid the fine.

Jeevitha plans to challenge the lower court’s order in the high court.

Chandrasekhar Reddy had filed the case against her after the cheques issued by her bounced. The petitioner said Jeevitha had taken money from him for producing the movie in 2007 and had also promised to give him the film rights.

The actress told reporters that the allegations made against her were false and that she would prove this in the higher court.

Jeevitha and her actor husband Rajasekhar also faced similar cases in the past. Last year, a city court had issued a non-bailable warrant against the couple. A financier had filed the case after a cheque for Rs.36 lakh issued by the couple bounced due to insufficient funds in the account.
