Popular reality game show, Kaun Banega Crorepati has seen contestants who’ve shown immense courage and strength in their personal lives. But tonight, the show has a participant whose heart-rending story left host Amitabh Bachchan, guest Rani Mukerji and the audiences teary-eyed.

Fatma Khatun, 38, from Bihar, was married off by her parents very early to a man thrice her age. Her life changed overnight, when she found that her husband and mother-in-law were involved in women trafficking. Apart from being a helpless witness to the crimes committed by them, Fatma herself became a victim of physical and sexual abuse. But soon, she decided to fight back and managed to put an end to the abuse and today runs an NGO to rescue and rehabilitate women. Listening to her struggles, Big B and Rani were at a loss for words and expressed their appreciation with a standing ovation.

An overwhelmed Fatma says, “Receiving a standing ovation from the superstar of the millennium was like a dream moment for me. I never thought that the star who has a fan following of millions would be standing up for me. It boosted my self-confidence and gave me further courage to fight my battle.”
